Where is Clark University?
Have you heard of Clark University in Worcester, MA?
Well, if you haven’t, I’m going to tell you some things about this school that will make you want to check it out!
Clark is a private school where you can get a four-star academic experience at a major research university that gives a B student the chance to do undergraduate research.
Doesn’t that sound amazing?
Clark is a college that changes student’s lives, especially for those kids who are average.
In fact, Clark prefers to have 500/B students to the 700/A students, and only a third of its freshmen come from the top third of their high school class. At Clark, the professors look for students that they can inspire and reach, they love to see the kids blossom and take different paths.
Not a large school
Clark is a small school of 2,900 kids…but don’t let that fool you into thinking they don’t diversify on campus. Only about 39% of their students are from Massachusetts. They have students that are African-American, Asian, and a good chunk of the students are foreign.
They foster leadership skills and a sense of responsibility.
A place where students succeed
Clark is a major research university of small size, a place where a teenager can make things happen that he wants to happen, much like he can at a small liberal arts college.
The faculty is concerned for student welfare and is of the highest competence that will set a high level of expectation while caring enough to see that students work to meet it.
This is not the ivory tower of the ivy’s schools, it is better. Here you are not just learning information, but you are applying it to your community and helping create positive change before you even get out of college.
In recent years
One thing that has happened in recent years is that the privileged kids often have a feeling of entitlement, college is more of a routine than a rite of passage anymore.
At Clark, they make sure they have kids that still think of college as an adventure, mixed in with some of the privileged who didn’t go to the ivy’s, which for sure will help those privileged kids see how great and how many opportunities Clark has to offer. Maybe some of the adventure will rub off on them.
One student said this about Clark: “It’s not so much the actual material you learn here, but how you learn how to learn here, like teaching you different ways to think and to process information so whatever you go on to do later, you understand how to interpret your own world view.”
This is a college that helps students succeed and become more than just a cog in a wheel.
Finding a good fit school is important, I help families figure out what schools are right for them and that they will get paid to go to.
