How Can You Fund College Tuition?
It’s hard to believe that the son or daughter you used to carry on your back is getting ready to graduate from high school and go off to college.
What’s even harder to believe is how much college tuition costs today!
Back in the 1960’s, one lady put herself through college on a small income. It was easy then… she only had to spend about $2000 dollars a year, not including books or housing. That is definitely not the situation today.
What constitutes tuition?
Tuition is the cost of attending secondary school (colleges and universities) in the United States and is sometimes referred to as the “cost of attendance.”
Whether or not you are attending college in-state or out-of-state plays a big determining role in tuition. Obviously, it’s less expensive to attend in state.
There are other factors that can be added to tuition:
- It may include room and board.
- Books and other fees
- Computers
- Clothing
- Transportation
How do people afford to send their students to college?
Getting a good education in today’s world is critical, but for some, it seems almost impossible to send their son or daughter to school. If they haven’t planned ahead, it can be very difficult and hard on family finances.
In order to pay for college:
Some have been saving since their child’s birth
- Some students have earned money to contribute and may have to continue working while attending classes
- Some students work hard at school and earn scholarships
- There are grants and student loans
- These loans can be from the government, financial institutions or educational institutions.
- Some large corporations offer help with college financing to their employees.
